GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Jenison girls basketball team captured a 40-35 victory over Allendale on Friday night at home. The Wildcats improve to 1-2 overall.
Jenison led 15-5 at the end of the first quarter, but Allendale cut the deficit to two points at 24-22 heading into the halftime break. The game remained close until late in the fourth quarter when Jenison grew the lead to double-digits and held on for the victory.
Terin Maynard scored a team-high 19 points, while Ella Haik added 11 points.
Jenison will host Cedar Springs on Tuesday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
The Jenison boys basketball team fell, 51-43, at Zeeland East on Friday night. The Wildcats drop to 0-2 on the season.
Jenison led 17-10 after the first quarter and 24-21 at halftime break before Zeeland East outscored the Wildcats 30-19 in the second half.
Corbin Bennetts scored a team-high 10 points, while Gage Chatfield and Rowan Stewart each finished with nine points.
Jenison will travel to Cedar Springs next Tuesday
HOCKEY
The Jenison hockey team defeated Caledonia/Lowell on Friday night by a score of 5-2. The Wildcats move their record to 4-4 overall on the year.
Jenison led 2-1 after the first period and added two more goals in the second and one in the third to increase the margin.
Gavin Stanfill, Hayden Blik, Brayden Eddy, Cole Williams, and Eli Sytsma each scored one goal. Owen Ballor, Sam Bydalek, Gabe Hetrick, Nathaniel Kloppe and Charlie Meijer each tallied an assist.
Jenison will be back in action on Saturday against Forest Hills Northern/Eastern at Patterson Ice Arena.
