GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Jenison girls basketball team won their second straight game after a 56-42 win over Caledonia on Friday night. The Wildcats improve to 5-9 overall on the season.
Jenison jumped out to a 12-3 lead after the first quarter and grew the margin to 35-15 at the half. Caledonia cut the Wildcats' lead to single digits in the third quarter, but Jenison pulled away late for the double-digit victory.
Terin Maynard scored a game-high 19 points, while Selena Titus added 14 points.
The Wildcats will host Hamilton next Tuesday (Jan. 31) in a make-up contest.
BOYS BASKETBALL
The Jenison boys basketball team fell at the buzzer against Caledonia, 62-60, on Friday night in OK Red action. The Wildcats drop to 4-10 overall.
Caledonia led by double-digits early in the contest and built a margin as much as 18 points in the first half. The Scots led 40-25 at the half. Jenison chipped away but still trailed, 55-45, entering the fourth quarter. The Wildcats overcame the deficit and took a lead late in the fourth quarter before falling at the buzzer.
Chris VanSlambrouck (17 points), Rowan Stewart (15 points), and Charlie Norton (13 points) all finished in double-figures for Jenison.
The Wildcats will travel to East Kentwood next Friday night.
