Jenison Baseball falls to Caledonia on Thursday

The Jenison baseball team fell to Caledonia, 6-4, on Thursday in a OK Red matchup. The Wildcats drop to 15-11 overall and 9-9 in league play.


Caledonia jumped out to a 5-0 lead through three innings of play before Jenison would get on the board in the fifth inning with a pair of runs. The Wildcats trailed 6-2 entering the bottom of the seventh inning before cutting the lead to 6-4 and moving the winning run to first base. Senior Spencer Betts hit a ball deep in the gap that was caught for the final out of the game.


Joey Heyboer and Matthew Vendal each had two hits to lead the Jenison offense.


Vendal and Betts combined to allow zero earned runs in five innings of relief.


Jenison will travel to Grand Rapids Christian on Saturday for a doubleheader.
