The Jenison baseball team fell to No. 10 ranked Mona Shores, 3-1, on Saturday in a non-league contest. The Wildcats drop to 6-7 overall.

Mona Shores scored a run in the first, fourth, and fifth innings to build a 3-0 lead, while the Jenison bats could not plate a run. In the bottom of the seventh, the Wildcats received hits from Matthew Vendal, Joey Heyboer, and Corbin Bennetts to finally score a run and put the tying run on second base with two outs. The Sailors ended the rally with a flyout to right field.

Vendal and Heyboer each had two hits to lead the Jenison offense, while Vendal threw 3 2/3 innings in relief and allowed just one earned run.

Jenison will travel to Grand Haven on Tuesday in an OK Red doubleheader.
