The Jenison baseball team split with Hudsonville on Tuesday, winning game one in nine innings, 3-0, before dropping the night cap by a score of 2-0. The Wildcats move to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in OK Red play.
In game one, Jackson Sytsma threw a complete game gem. The junior threw nine innings, allowing four hits, zero walks, and struck out 14 batters. Hudsonville loaded the bases with zero outs in the bottom of the eighth inning before Sytsma worked out of the jam.
In the top of the ninth, Colin Diekman hit an infield single with runners on second and third to score the first run of the game. Jenison then added runs on an errant throw and an RBI single from Joey Heyboer.
Landon Mueller led Jenison with two hits.
In game two, Madison Wood was tagged with the loss, despite throwing six innings and only allowing one earned run.
Hudsonville scored two runs in the bottom of the third on an error.
Jaxen Bagley paced the offense in game two with a pair of hits.
The Wildcats will look to take the series on Thursday against Hudsonville at home.
