Jenison Baseball sweeps East Kentwood on Tuesday

The Jenison baseball team swept East Kentwood on Tuesday by scores of 7-0 and 3-2. The Wildcats improve to 12-8 overall and 8-6 in league play.


Freshman Case Bosch earned the win in game one, throwing a complete-game, while allowing three hits, two walks, zero runs, and struck out nine.


Jenison scored five runs in the second inning to break open the game and added runs in the third and sixth innings.


Corbin Bennetts, Ray Sherff, Spencer Betts, and Joey Heyboer each had multi-hit games for the Wildcats.


In game two, East Kentwood scored first in the top of the third to take a 1-0 lead, but Jenison responded in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of runs. The Falcons tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth before Spencer Betts drove a RBI double in the bottom of the sixth for the eventual game-winner.


Senior Madison Wood was credited with the win, throwing six innings, allowing four hits, two runs, and three walks, while striking out 10. Bennetts earned the save throwing a scoreless seventh inning.


Sherff, Jaxen Bagley, Betts, and Bear Casarez each had hits for Jenison.


The Wildcats will look for the three-game sweep at East Kentwood on Thursday.
