The Jenison baseball team swept Forest Hills Central by scores of 12-6 and 5-1 (5 inn.) on Friday in a non-league doubleheader. The Wildcats move their win streak to seven games and now sit at 15-8 overall.
In game one, Forest Hills Central scored five runs in the first inning before Jenison scored three runs in the second inning and four runs in the third inning to take a 7-5 lead. The Wildcats added runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to grow the lead.
Senior Matthew Vendal threw 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball out of the bullpen while racking up seven strikeouts to earn the win.
Junior Ray Sherff recorded three hits to lead the team, while RJ Rathsack had two hits and four RBI.
In game two, FHC scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Jenison responded with five runs in the bottom half to take a 5-1 lead. No team would score the next four innings and the game ended in the fifth inning due to darkness.
Senior Spencer Betts earned the win, tossing five innings, allowing four hits, one run, while striking out seven.
Junior Colin Diekman had a multi-hit game to lead the offense.
Jenison will travel to Caledonia on Tuesday.
