The Jenison baseball team swept Sparta on Saturday by scores of 6-0 and 9-3 to improve their record to 5-4 on the season.
In game one, senior Josh Huene earned the win by tossing four scoreless innings and striking out five. Sophomore Corbin Bennetts was credited with the save, throwing the final three innings and only allowing one hit.
Junior Landon Mueller led the offense with a hit, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while senior Matthew Vendal totaled a hit and two runs scored.
Vendal earned the win on the mound in game two by throwing five innings and allowing two runs while striking out three batters. Junior Ray Sherff threw the final two innings in relief and struck out a pair.
Freshman Case Bosch had a team-high three hits, while Mueller added a multi-hit game and stole three bases.
Jenison will host Rockford (No. 7 ranked team in D1) on Tuesday in a OK Red doubleheader.
