The Jenison baseball team swept Grand Haven on Wednesday by scores of 4-3 (10 inn.) and 10-1. The Wildcats improve to 8-7 overall and 6-5 in league play.
After three scoreless innings in game one, Grand Haven scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 2-0 lead. Jenison answered back in the top of the fifth on a two-run single from junior Landon Mueller. The Bucs retook the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fifth. Down to their final outs, Jenison would tie the game in the seventh inning on an RBI single by senior Jaxen Bagley.
In the top of the 10th inning, junior Jackson Sytsma drove in senior Josh Huene for the eventual game-winning hit.
Freshman Case Bosch started on the mound and threw five innings, while giving up three runs and striking out three. Sophomore Corbin Bennetts earned the win by tossing five scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts.
Bagley led the offense with three hits.
In game two, Jenison scored four runs in the third, two runs in the fourth, and four runs in the seventh for the lopsided win.
Senior Madison Wood received the win, throwing a complete game, while allowing one run, two walks, and struck out 10.
Bennetts, Mueller, Ray Sherff, Case Bosch, Spencer Betts, and Joey Heyboer each had two hits for the Wildcats.
Jenison will look to sweep Grand Haven tomorrow at home.
