The Jenison boys basketball team held on for a 43-40 victory at Byron Center on Tuesday night to open up the 2021-22 season.
The game was tied at 11-11 after the first quarter before Jenison outscored Byron Center 16-8 in the second quarter to take a 27-19 lead into halftime.
The Wildcats led 37-24 entering the fourth quarter and held on for the victory despite scoring just six points in the final frame.
Senior Carter VanManen led Jenison with 12 points, while senior Caleb Dean and sophomore Gage Chatfield each finished with 11 points.
Jenison will be back in action on Friday as they take on Zeeland East in their home opener.
