The Jenison boys basketball team pulled out a victory late in the fourth quarter on Tuesday night at Lowell by a score of 58-57. The Wildcats improve to 3-2 overall.
The two teams were tied at 54-54 with under a minute left to play before the Jenison defense created a turnover and Carter VanManen hit the game-winning floater with 20 seconds left in the game. The defense forced another stop and Caleb Dean knocked down a pair of free throws to ice the game.
Lowell led 14-10 after the first quarter, but Jenison outscored the Red Arrows 19-10 in the second quarter and carried a 29-24 advantage into the break. The Wildcats held onto a six point lead entering the fourth quarter before Lowell came back to tie the contest.
Dean led the Wildcats with 17 points, while Gage Chatfield (13 points) and VanManen (11 points) also finished in double-figures.
Jenison will resume play after the new year on Jan. 4 at home against Zeeland West.
