The Jenison boys basketball team fell in double overtime, 58-53, at Hudsonville on Tuesday night. The Wildcats drop to 4-8 overall and 0-6 in conference play, while the Eagles improve to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in league action.
The game was tied at 48-48 in the closing seconds of regulation before Hudsonville missed a 10-foot jumper to send the game to overtime. In the first overtime, both teams combined for just six points. Hudsonville had a wide open fast break with just seconds remaining after a Jenison turnover, however, Gage Chatfield executed a rundown block from behind to force a second overtime. The Eagles would build a two possession lead in the second overtime and hit key free throws down the stretch to ice the game.
Hudsonville controlled the game early, leading 15-10 after the first quarter and 30-21 at the half. Jenison would open the second half strong and outscored the Eagles, 14-6, in the third quarter to make it a one-point game.
Caleb Dean led Jenison with 15 points, while Cam Duval added 14 points.
Jenison will host Grand Haven on Friday.
