The Jenison boys basketball team upset Grand Haven on Friday night by a score of 56-52 in the season finale. The Wildcats fell 61-37 to Grand Haven back on Jan. 28.
The Bucs jumped out to a 10-0 lead early in the first quarter before Jenison cut the deficit to 15-11 at the end of the frame. The two teams would trade baskets in the second quarter and Grand Haven took a 26-22 lead into the half.
The game remained tight into the second half. The Bucs led 36-35 entering the fourth quarter before Jenison overtook the lead and made clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
Caleb Dean led Jenison with 15 points, while Cam Duval (13 points) and Carter VanManen (11 points) also finished in double-figures.
The Wildcats will begin district play the week of March 7. The bracket has yet to be released.
