The Jenison boys lacrosse team defeated Caledonia, 9-7, in the regular season finale on Monday night. The victory was the first in the program's history over a Tier 1 team (Jenison is Tier 3).
The Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead and took a 6-3 advantage into the fourth quarter. Jenison would grow their lead to 9-3 before Caledonia scored four unanswered goals, but the Wildcats held strong for the victory.
Ethan Mate scored four goals, while Aiden Jenison added three goals. Trevor Martens and Rylan Kelly each scored one goal.
Spencer Strelecki recorded 14 saves and a 66.7% save rate.
Jenison will travel to Reeths-Puffer on Monday to begin postseason play.
