The Jenison football team dominated from start to finish in a 34-3 win at Forest Hills Northern on Thursday night in non-conference action. The Wildcats improve to 1-1 overall, while the Huskies fall to 1-1 on the season.
After a punt on the first drive of the game, the Jenison offense wasted no time on drive number two. Caleb Dean took a handoff on the first play of the drive and bursted 71 yards for a touchdown to give Jenison a 7-0 lead with 4:15 left in the first quarter.
The Jenison defense held strong, only allowing a field goal on the Huskies first three possessions. FHN cut the lead to 7-3 with 11:11 left in the second quarter before the Wildcats answered right back. Facing a third and seven at their own 22 yard line, QB Carter VanManen found Caleb Dean for a 78-yard touchdown to increase the Jenison lead to 13-3.
The Wildcats entered the halftime break up 13-3 and continued to add to the lead in the second half. Dean scored his third total touchdown of the game from 31 yards out, while Riley Russo and Jasaiah Beamon each scored a rushing touchdown.
Dean finished the night with an incredible 259 all-purpose yards (164 rushing, 78 receiving, 17 passing) and recorded an interception. Landon Mueller (seven total tackles and INT) and Chris VanOpstall (four sacks) led the defensive unit.
