The Jenison football team fell, 29-14, in the 2022 season opener at Forest Hills Central on Thursday night. The Wildcats will host Forest Hills Northern next Thursday (Sep. 1) at 7:00 PM.
FHC opened the scoring midway through the first quarter on a 61 yard touchdown run and scored on their next possession to take a 15-0 lead into the second quarter. The Rangers added another touchdown in the second quarter and led 22-0 at the halftime break.
The Rangers first possession of the second half resulted in a touchdown before Jenison found the end zone on a Sam Morales 10-yard run. FHC led 29-7 entering the fourth quarter.
Jenison held the FHC offense out of the end zone in the fourth quarter and scored a touchdown in the final minutes of the game.
Morales led the offense with 13 rushes for 66 yards and two touchdowns, while QB Braden Arbaugh finished with 87 yards through the air and 49 yards rushing.
Gabe Hetrick recorded a team-high eight tackles and Dane DeVries tallied a sack.
