The Jenison girls basketball team snapped a losing skid on Friday night in a 37-36 win over Grandville on Friday night in OK Red play. The Wildcats improve to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in league action.
Jenison led for much of the contest, but Grandville overtook the lead midway through the fourth quarter after an offensive drought and foul trouble for the Wildcats. The Bulldogs held the ball with the lead and 30 seconds left to play before a traveling violation gave the ball back to Jenison. Trailing 36-35 in the closing seconds, junior Terin Maynard drove to the basket and scored the game-winning layup with 4.9 seconds left on the clock. Grandville advanced the ball down the court and missed their final shot attempt at the buzzer.
Maynard finished the night with 19 points.
The Wildcats will play Caledonia at home on Tuesday (Feb. 8).
