The Jenison girls basketball team lost a tight battle at West Ottawa on Friday night by score of 45-40. The Wildcats drop to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while West Ottawa improvs to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in league play.
West Ottawa led for the duration of the first half and carried a 20-18 lead into the halftime break. The two teams would trade baskets for the entirety of the second half before the Panthers broke a 36-36 tie with three minutes remaining.
Ella Haik led Jenison with 14 points, while Taryn Maynard also finished in double figures with 12 points.
Jenison will host East Kentwood on Tuesday night (Jan. 18).
