The Jenison girls basketball team dropped their season opener, 61-42, vs. Byron Center on Tuesday night at the Kamstra Gymnasium.
The score was tied at 13-13 after the first quarter of play and Jenison took a 30-28 lead into halftime against a talented Byron Center squad.
The Bulldogs would outscore Jenison 19-4 in the third quarter to take control of the contest.
Junior Terin Maynard led the Wildcats with 22 points (17 in first half), while junior Ella Haik also finished in double-figures with 11 points.
Jenison will be back in action on Friday night (Dec. 10) as they travel to play Zeeland East.
