The Jenison girls soccer team won a 2-1 thriller over Covenant Christian on Thursday evening at home in the season opener.
Neither team scored in the first half before Covenant broke the drought with 20 minutes left in the contest to go up 1-0.
The Wildcats drew a penalty kick with just three minutes left and Natalie Keena found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. Jenison then earned a corner kick with 15 seconds remaining and Ella Chatfield scored on the deflection for the game-winner.
Jenison will travel to East Kentwood next Tuesday (Mar. 29).
