The No. 5 ranked Jenison softball team defeated Rockford, 4-1, on Thursday to clinch a share of the OK Red title. The Wildcats improve to 28-2 overall and have three chances next week to win the crown outright.
Freshman Alli Wright was dominant in the circle, throwing a complete game, allowing just three hits, one run, and struck out 12.
Terin Maynard hit a two-run home run which opened up the lead to 4-0 in the sixth inning. Elsie Norton recorded a team-high two hits.
Jenison will play Escanaba on Saturday before playing West Ottawa (doubleheader) and Grand Haven next week to cap conference play. The Wildcats will need to win one of the three games against West Ottawa/Grand Haven to clinch the outright title.
