The Jenison softball team defeated Rockford by scores of 3-2 and 10-7 to complete a doubleheader sweep at home on Tuesday. The Wildcats improve to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play.
Alli Wright earned the win in game one, tossing seven innings, allowing two runs, three walks, and struck out 10 batters.
In a 2-2 game in the bottom of the sixth, Jenison's Mia VanderHeide scored on an error after Sam Timmer's sac bunt.
Wright led the offense with two hits including a double.
In game two, the Wildcats scored two runs in the first and seven in the second to take command of the game. Rockford would chip away and cut the deficit to 9-7 in the fifth inning, but Jenison scored in the bottom half of the fifth to cushion the lead.
Wright pitched the final 2 2/3 innings to earn the save.
Elsie Norton led the offense with a home run, and two doubles, while Marah Griffore and Taryn Maynard each had three hits. Kenadee Schnick added two hits.
Jenison will host Caledonia on Thursday.
