The Jenison softball team began the season with a doubleheader sweep of state-ranked Grandville on Thursday at home by scores of 9-0 and 6-5.
In game one, freshman Alli Wright earned the win in the circle by tossing seven scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out 18 batters.
Christine Duch led the offense with two hits including a home run and a double.
Grandville held a 5-3 in the fifth inning of game two before Jenison scored two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth on a sacrfice fly from Elsie Norton.
Marah Griffore led Jenison with three hits, while Morgan Huyser finished with a multi-hit game.
Wright was credited with the win in game two, throwing three scoreless innings in relief while racking up six strikeouts.
Jenison will host Wayland tomorrow afternoon in a doubleheader.
